With the rise of the web and social media a new funding avenue has emerged: crowdfunding.
Using the speed, connectivity and power of the Internet a company can now make funding opportunities accessible to "the crowd".
I'll be speaking at this workshop which explores the latest crowdfunding trends and platforms for raising capital; how to avoid the common pitfalls; and ways to discover an approach to crowdfunding that works best for you.

In the morning from 11am I'll be running a short workshop on How to Build a Financial Dashboard, uncovering some simple steps to help you strip down confusing accounting processes and create a simple financial dashboard that can guide your company's health.

In the afternoon from 1.25pm I'm on a panel session with life coach Rasheed Ogunlaru discussing the ever-important question of When to Quit Your Day Job to build your new enterprise. Mhairi Mackenzie is the director at Bonnie Bling, a jewellery company. Bonnie Bling specialises in laser cut acrylic jewellery with a Scottish twist. Last year it successfully ran a crowdfunding campaign to purchase their own in-house laser machine.
Darren Westlake is the CEO and co-founder at Crowdcube, an online crowdfunding platformCrowdcube has helped raise more than £5.5m for UK businesses through its equity-based crowdfunding platform.
Simon Wallwork is a partner at Weightmans LLP. Simon is a corporate lawyer with more than 20 years' experience advising clients on traditional means of funding. He has more recently advised a number of startups considering crowdfunding as a source of revenue.
